In the very first episode, I shared my story and I want to overview it again for all of you right here.
As someone who has gone from looking down on the beauty industry to building my very own beauty empire, I have a unique perspective to share. I’ve learned that there is so much money and opportunity in the beauty industry today and my goal is to show you how you can tap into everything that’s available to you, too.
My Story
I never thought I’d end up in the beauty industry. I wanted to make a lot of money but had only ever seen people in the beauty industry struggling. I honestly saw it as an industry that someone would go into if they weren’t smart enough to get another job.
However, after getting my business degree and going out into the workforce, I hated every second of it. I was tired of being away from my family for 80 hours a week just to make someone else wealthy. I wanted something more.
I was getting my lashes done one day and asked the technician what her profit margins were like. I was amazed at what she said. She was making over $100 an hour! Instantly, I knew I wanted to do the same thing.
I had my evenings to myself and thought it’d be fun to spend time with some girlfriends and make some extra money so I got trained and started offering my services.
When I made my first $100, I was so thrilled. I wasn’t the best at first but I was good at making people feel comfortable, fixing my mistakes, and following up to make sure my clients were happy.
Eventually, my business started getting so booked out that I was able to quit my full-time job and pull my son out of daycare.
This all made me realize how unhappy I was in my relationship as well. I didn’t have a voice and had given away my power. So, I saved like crazy to be able to walk away from that relationship and get my son into a happy home. Within 3 months, I was able to pack up and leave.
Now, my sons and I have built a beautiful life. We have choices. My little beauty business taught me that I wasn’t too much for anybody.
If you’re considering going into the beauty industry, you’ve made an incredible choice. You have a passion for doing something you love, making other women feel more confident, and setting your own schedule and you’re in the right place.
